Create a Dynadot API key

InfraNest talks to Dynadot with an API key and a signing secret. Here's how to create them.

Set up a Dynadot API key and secret so InfraNest can manage your domains, then optionally enable live updates. This is for anyone connecting a Dynadot account to InfraNest under Domains.

Overview

  • InfraNest connects to Dynadot using an API key and a matching secret.
  • You'll also need to allow InfraNest's IP address on Dynadot's side, or every request will be refused.
  • Setting up a webhook is optional — it just makes updates arrive immediately instead of waiting for the next sync.

Create the key

  1. Sign in to Dynadot.
  2. Go to ToolsAPI.
  3. Create an API key and choose the v2 (REST) version. InfraNest uses v2.
  4. Copy the API key and the API secret shown next to it.
  5. Paste both into InfraNest — see Connect Dynadot.

WarningThe secret signs every request. Store it somewhere safe; if you lose it, create a new key pair rather than trying to recover it.

Allow InfraNest's IP address

  1. Open the Tools → API page in Dynadot.
  2. Find the IP address shown in InfraNest's Dynadot connect form.
  3. Add that IP address to Dynadot's allowed list.

NoteWithout this step, every request is refused no matter how correct your key is.

Set up live updates by webhook (optional)

  1. On the Tools → API page, set the callback URL to the address shown in InfraNest's connect form.
  2. Dynadot then shows a Webhook key and a Webhook secret.
  3. Paste both into InfraNest.

This is optional — everything works without it, just less immediately.
