Drop Catch

Understand the drop-catch scores

Each watched domain gets two separate scores, so you can tell a good name apart from one that's actually being released.

Every domain you watch gets two independent scores, so you can quickly tell a genuinely good name apart from one that's actually about to become available. This is for anyone using Drop Catch to track expiring domains.

Overview

  • Each watched domain shows a Quality score and a Catchability score.
  • Both scores are explainable — you can see exactly what drives them, not just a number.
  • Quality tells you if the name is worth having; Catchability tells you how likely it is to actually drop.

Understand Quality

This score (0–100) reflects how desirable the domain name is, regardless of whether it's about to be released. It's based on:

  1. Length — shorter names score higher.
  2. Ending — some endings (like .com) are more sought-after than others.
  3. Make-up — hyphens and mixed letter/number combos score lower, while short pure-number names (like 8888) are treated as premium.
  4. Meaning — real words, pronounceable coined words, and memorable number patterns score higher.
  5. Keywords — high-value commercial words score above generic ones.
  6. Age — older domains get a small boost.

Understand Catchability

This separate score (0–100) estimates how likely the domain is to actually drop, based on where it is in its lifecycle plus live signals. These include:

  1. Whether the domain still has an active website or email.
  2. Whether the page looks parked, expired, or listed for sale.
  3. How fresh the domain's SSL certificate is.
  4. The domain's history.
  5. Any trademark risk.

Each signal appears as a plus or a minus next to the score, so you can see exactly why a domain scored the way it did.

NoteCatchability is an honest estimate, not a guaranteed win rate. As InfraNest records real outcomes, it turns into an observed "X% of similar domains dropped" figure.

Tips

  • Use Quality to decide if a name is worth watching at all.
  • Use Catchability to decide when to act — a high-quality name with low Catchability may not be worth chasing yet.
  • Check Last checked and Next check on a watched domain to see how fresh the signals are.
